The weather is finally moderating so we could get back into a more normal routine. This morning that meant a walk over to the park...
so nice to see the path again!
there wasn't much in the way of activity....here at the first bay...
there was a little activity part way along the trail....nice to see the little male who has claimed this area as his for the past number of years was still there, and this morning he had company....there were actually 3 Anna's Hummingbirds....both of these are males, the 3rd zipped out of the picture so fast I couldn't catch it, but nice to know they survived the weather.
not much happening at the log bay either, but it wasn't exactly 'quiet' as a flock of male Red-wing Blackbirds were busy calling from one of the Cottonwoods - nice to hear! There were a few junco around too and a couple of Bald Eagles on pilings, but that was about it.
After lunch we headed over to Harrison Bay...
lots of swans way, way out there. Also saw one Common Loon and a few Common Mergansers, but otherwise, not much on the water.
Fox Sparrow....
and Song Sparrows....also some Spotted Towhee that I didn't get a picture of.
Just as we were finishing up....
saw this Bald Eagle land in one of the trees beside the beach and managed this photo of it snapping off a branch...
headed over there where they started nest construction last fall...you can see one eagle up at the top of the tree...
while the other was busy placing the latest stick. Sure hope they have better luck with this nest than the did with the one in the old location.
Just at the entrance to the campground, way up in one of the large Cottonwoods,
on one side we had a flock of European Starlings....
and on the other side of the same tree, a flock of Eurasian Collared Doves! Hadn't seen many doves for the last few months, then all of a sudden they show up...counted at least 13.
and then....as we were leaving to head home...
Pussy Willows! There is hope, although in reality we still have well over 2 months of winter left.
