Well, now we are into the month of April, and so far it isn’t looking much different than March –
just kind of dull and gray and not very warm, but at least it was dry. Water levels are as low as I’ve ever seen them, it remains to be seen when they will start to rise – not until we get some warmer weather, that is for sure!
The only ‘water’ type birds today were a pair of Canada Geese at the log bay (only one in picture)….we should start seeing some shorebirds this month.
an American Robin was over there as well – note the buds on the Poplar tree – they are getting to where they will be dropping their ‘sticky buds’ at any time.
some Tree Swallows around as well, in fact I think there were a few Violet-green Swallows mixed in today – I didn’t have binoculars with me so can’t be sure.
Spotted Towhee continue to ‘trill’ – the lighting wasn’t right for getting a good picture of this guy…
have been trying to get some pictures of the Salmon Berry Bush flowers for the past while but I obviously haven’t mastered the ‘macro’ feature on my camera yet! With all the flowers out it is only a matter of time until a Rufous Hummingbird shows up down there.
There is a Gold-crowned Kinglet in there. There were also a number of Bushtit today and also could hear a Hairy Woodpecker but never caught sight of him. Absolutely no ducks or heron around today but there was a Northern Harrier coursing over the grasslands.
