Very, very quiet

The last few days have been sunny and almost spring like, unfortunately I haven’t been able to get out for my usual walks at my usual time…sometimes life just gets in the way -

Quiet

but the resounding theme I’m getting from everyone that has been out…is how quiet it is…

Swans on flats

there were some Swan’s scattered out on the flats…very hard to see, both in real life and in this picture!  Swans will start heading north about mid-month, and by the end of the month will pretty much be gone – until next fall.

Nice day

No activity at the log bay, except for 2 pairs of Mallard and the Red-wing Blackbirds calling in the distance….  I did see a female Red-wing today…

RWFJan'07

females Red-wing Blackbirds as shown in this file photo – look more like large sparrows..they don’t usually have the pink coloration around the bill either, like this one did.

Buffleheads

back to today, the only other birds of note were this little flock of Bufflehead that suddenly popped up out of nowhere.  There were actually 5 of them.

Tomorrow we should be back to our normal routine, let’s hope there is something to see!
