The second was....
a Canada Goose pair taking possession of this piling.....no doubt a future nesting site. Geese can start nesting as early as March, so will keep our eye on this one.
Not as many geese around today, none in the fields, but what there were scattered about on what remains of the river.
Weren't as many swans either.....was hoping to get a picture of the 30 or so up the river near the bridge, when geese and ducks started flying around...
couldn't figure out why....until a boat came roaring up the river. Must have come in off the Fraser because there is no where on the Harrison where you can launch a boat right now. It sure illustrated how disturbing boat traffic is to the wildlife!
Only other thing of note...
were Red-wing Blackbirds in the bushes....
including some females. Not sure where the eagles were today. There were a total of 10 heron scattered along the far shore or perched on pilings.
