Looking for Beaver

I held off doing this posting yesterday, because I decided to accompany Ernie and Shantz last night, on their evening walk, as I’d been hearing about how they were seeing a Beaver every night at the log bay – well of course, no beaver put in an appearance last night!

stalled water

Earlier in the day we had spent some time down at the boat launch area, the water levels had actually dropped a little bit…

Weather up the valley

despite the sunshine, temperatures have been a bit chilly and that, no doubt, slowed the snow melt…

Mergansers on a log

Although we could hear lots of birds, about the only ones visible were these female Common Mergansers way off in the distance…

Steller's Jay

the very large numbers of Steller’s Jay continue to be around…this guy was in my yard, along with a great many of his buddies….

Townsend's Solitaire

heading out for the evening walk, we noticed there were still a number of Townsend’s Solitaire – for some reason they seem to like hanging out on the fence around our sewage treatment plant drainage field!

Evening sunshine

and here was the evening view at the log bay, looking southwards…

Evening at the log bay

and the other way – very peaceful but kind of quiet and definitely ‘beaver less’!
