Didn’t get pictures of them but the Tree Swallows are definitely back! I was standing talking with a park ranger when 5 of them flew by, chattering all the while, as Tree Swallows do. It was also the first day this year when I didn’t have to wear a winter jacket – a fleece top sufficed. Spring must be on it’s way.
we didn’t get quite the clear blue skies and sunshine we’d hoped for, there has been some high cloud diluting the sunshine, but we’ll take it! Not a lot at the log bay today – that is a Great Blue Heron down there….
there is a better picture of him….it was fairly breezy which probably accounts for the lack of smaller birds
what ducks there were seemed to be enjoying soaking up the warmth!
if you look very closely in this picture there are 2 more Heron and a pair of Canada Geese…
closer view that shows the two heron
and this one shows one of the heron and the pair of geese. For the second day in a row I could hear some shorebirds, most likely Killdeer in this area but couldn’t spot them.
a Steller’s Jay was the only other bird I got a picture of today and even so I managed to cut off the tip of his crest….
