I guess we were lucky because our first walk in the month of March was just ‘misty’ although it is now raining heavily…
there was more activity at the log bay than there had been for a while…
quite a few ducks….
including a pair of ‘Hoodies’ (Hooded Merganser)…
and a female Common Merganser (on right), with a female Green-wing Teal …
some of the Red-wing Blackbird flock was there, doing their persistent spring time calling…
The Great Blue Heron flew up onto this piling and continued to mutter away to itself for as long as we were in hearing range.
a number of Bald Eagles around today too, at least two young ones like the guy above because I saw them having a bit of a ‘tussle’ through the bushes, but by the time we had a clear line of sight, they had gone their separate ways. And adult did a bit of a dive at some of the ducks before it flew down towards the golf course and joined it’s mate. Notice the catkins appearing on the Alder trees in the background…spring is on it’s way!
