What a treat to wake up to sunshine!
The skiff of snow we got over night came as a bit of a shock, but we’ll take it if a day like today follows it. Perhaps that is the last of the white stuff we’ll see this year.
there were a number of Varied Thrush in the park today…this isn’t a great picture but I’ve put it in to also show the Black Twin Berry shrub that is leafing out.
time to show the log bay ‘head on’….a bit of snow still lingered along the edges. Not much in the way of ducks about, but there were House Finch, Towhee, Juncos and Robins . Could also hear a Flicker off somewhere, and some Red-wing Blackbirds…
movement caught my eye and that is when I spotted this Song Sparrow working it’s way over the logs
here it moved down a branch…seemed to be picking up something as it went…possibly little bugs – speaking of which I saw a Ladybug today…didn’t have a camera with me at the time.
heading towards home…some more of that snow …..
and finally this pitiful picture of a male Purple Finch…just to show they are in the area….I had heard them singing…in fact there is a lot of bird song going on right now. There are also some pussy willows in that picture if you look really close.
