February 14th so it is Valentines Day and what a miserable, wet, uninspiring day it is!
sum total of birds seen were 1 bedraggled Steller’s Jay, 1 Red-wing Blackbird (yelling at the jay), 6 Bald Eagles and
this little group of Buffleheads (2 were underwater)…maybe they are so small the eagles can’t be bothered with them.
Because we all need cheering up this time of the year I’m tossing in a few pictures taken yesterday when we went for a drive up to Manning Park….just to see a change of scenery…
You are probably not really supposed to feed the birds…but how can you help it when you are swarmed the minute you get out of your vehicle..
at least it was brown bread….I think they got more of my lunch than I did! They are, of course Gray Jays….
There was one Clark’s Nutcracker hanging around as well, but he wasn’t nearly as friendly as the Gray Jays. Neither of these species are found down here at the Chehalis Estuary.
