We wanted some rain....and now we are getting it! Boy are we getting it! Only ventured out for a minute or two today and when I did not a bird to be seen anywhere....
all these photos from the last few days....
we'd taken a walk over at Harrison Bay on the 29th of October, it was showery and there wasn't much of anything to be seen, although I guess a total of about 6 eagles were seen.
Then drove up....
Morris Valley road and parked beside the estuary....very green estuary! there were a number of gulls and also eagles scattered out in the grass....
this young Bald Eagle came flying right down the waterway towards us. Too bad the lighting was so bad that it didn't turn out sharp....
On the 30th....
the eagle trees by the viewing platform had the highest concentration seen so far. There were four of them in the other tree as well.
an abundance of them out on the flats as well...
I'd guesstimate somewhere between two and three hundred in total.
Was also trying to see what the smaller birds perched on a piling were....hoped for Meadowlarks, but no,
just a couple of European Starlings.
This 4 year old was perched over at the log bay.
Tuesday was also the day we were over in Chilliwack and had a pair of Trumpeter Swans fly over us....the first of the season. Maybe by the time the rain lets up we will have some here at our IBA.
