Osprey

It has been such a miserable wet day today that I wouldn’t normally bother posting anything…but this morning when we decided to drive over to Chilliwack just to get away…an Osprey flew right in front of us as we crossed the bridge over the Harrison River.

Since that is the first sighting of the season, wanted to mention it.  The above file photo was of course not taken today….it was taken at Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park last year.

I did get out for one damp walk later this afternoon and heard a Hummingbird down in the park….another first.  There had been a few Hummingbirds around back in late March and then they seem to have pretty much disappeared with this unseasonable cold wet weather.  I didn’t manage to spot the one today but it was in an area where there are lots of Salmon Berry flowers in bloom.  Also, this morning, my husband went for a wet walk and said there were ‘at least’ 33 Common Mergansers just off the first bay….5 males and the rest females….
