The forecast for today, and tomorrow too, had been for sunny skies and cool temperatures….instead we got up to high overcast that has gradually thickened as the day wears on..
Just kind of gray out – but nice to see ducks back in their usual places…Mallard, Green Wing Teal, a few American Wigeon and a pair of Gadwall..
what the pictures don’t show is the cold outflow winds…
I was trying to capture the dust blowing off of the gravel bars…don’t think I really succeeded and it was too cold to stand out there for too long trying.
The large flock of Red-wing Blackbirds were over at the log bay today, along with a Belted Kingfisher
the Kingfisher flew into this sheltered spot and I was contemplating trying to sneak up to try for a picture, but then I saw this Great Blue Heron also sheltering out of the wind…so decided to leave them alone…only saw 2 Bald Eagles which probably accounts for the ducks being back as the eagles are definitely in hunting mode ~ in fact it has been reported to me that one was seen grabbing a squirrel the other day.
