One of the milder days we’ve had for a while….
but very quiet – well apart from the gunshots coming from the north east sector….
A number of ducks in the above section…including 10 Gadwall (male on left in picture), these are good size ducks as you can see in comparison to the male Mallard on the right.
Here we have a male on the left and a female Gadwall on the right.
Very quiet at the log bay too, just a few Gull…there are still a few live Salmon spawning in this area. There were Bald Eagles but they were very spread out on this side of the estuary….numbers of them were lined up along the Harrison River on the other side.
Only other birds of note were some Gold Crowned Kinglets in the bushes by the viewing platform and a ‘falcon’ type bird which flew over as we were walking back…very rapid wing beats so not sure what it was, had hoped it would perch in one of the eagle trees as I have seen Peregrine there before, but it kept going.
