A different kind of 'bird'

More gloomy wet days...

and the water is definitely on the rise!

I've seen a Ruby crowned Kinglet now, and also a Yellow-rump Warbler....but today there was a different sort of 'bird, out there....

this helicopter is different from any we usually see out there.  Seemed to be doing some sort of survey.  Possibly something to do with it now being a Wildlife Management Area.

what ever the reason for it, it didn't disturb these North Western Crows.

wandered back down to the estuary this evening...it had actually stopped raining...

quite the collection of ducks....

a pair of Hooded Merganser....

a pair of Common Merganser, busy fishing.  There have been a lot of these guys around lately, baby fish must be hatching.

and a little herd of Bufflehead (along with one female merganser).  All of a sudden all the Bufflehead too off....why?

this guy....a Bald Eagle....was on the hunt, in fact it circled the mergansers who hadn't flown 6 or 7 times before giving up and returning to it's perch in one of the eagle trees.
