This morning made it down to the estuary early.....
you can see it was a beautiful morning, cool though, with frost along the edges of the path. There wasn't a whole lot of anything around, although I think there was a flock of Pine Siskin that had settled momentarily....they have sure been elusive so far this winter.
returned to the estuary late in the afternoon....
there is about half of the Red-wing Blackbirds that are wintering with us.
it was beautiful and calm over at the log bay. A Hairy Woodpecker was calling and out there in the shade...
a pair of Trumpeter Swans, along with the usual Mallards.
a Great Blue Heron on his favorite piling.. Lots of small bird activity along the trail, along with a pair of Northern Flicker....It was getting too dark to attempt photos...
until I was heading back and noticed this gathering of Bald Eagles, in the sunset...
Not something you get to see everyday - eagles yes (at least at this time of the year) but sunsets...no. Could hear Killdeer out there too but couldn't spot any of them.
one more look at the late afternoon eagle gathering.
