It has been 4 very miserable days! By this afternoon it had let up slightly so made a break for it and went for a walk....
all that rain has finally brought the water levels up, there hasn't been this much water in the first bay for a couple of months at least.
the log bay is looking pretty healthy too,
and look, all those gravel bars out there are under water! There were 3 Trumpeter Swans out there, with the higher water levels maybe they'll move in even closer. There were also lots of Mallard, most sitting on the shore.
It was quite windy so not a lot of birds around although I did notice a few Varied Thrush and there were a total of....
3 Northern Flickers, these 2 and 1 in a tree right beside this one.
Still quite a few eagles around, no longer hundreds, but still 'dozens'....note this...
picture I took on the 9th of an adult Bald Eagle....notice the log it is sitting on
there is the same log today with a wind blown juvenile eagle on it...that demonstrates the water levels pretty well.
Now here is something that is a little different, I took this on the 9th as well, we've seen lots of pictures of Great Blue Heron.....
but not usually from this perspective!
