Wide Chehalis....

Original plan was for a walk over at Harrison Bay but by the time we were ready to go it had gotten a little warm....so, headed out in the canoe instead.

it appears that the water levels peaked on Sunday which was the 4th...higher than they have been for the past several years,

as a result there is a lot of debris out there, these Canada Geese were making full use of it as were many Spotted Sandpipers, none cooperating for a photo.

the Chehalis River is so wide right now it was hard to actually find it.  Lots of bird calling but not a lot visible...

Numerous Tree Swallows, most perched near nesting sites in the numerous dead trees in the habitat.   Also saw Barn Swallows, Northern Rough Wing Swallows and Violet Green Swallows.

Thank goodness this land is owned by Naturetrust so safe from those how think they are 'ugly' or 'dangerous'...

there are baby Hairy Woodpeckers in that nesting cavity....the parent left before I could get a photo...

Red-breasted Sapsucker over here...

Cedar Waxwing everywhere!

and of course the riparian edges were also full of birds....most almost impossible to see but did catch this Yellow Warbler.

and so we headed home.  Didn't check out the Purple Martins this time.
