It is beginning to look a lot like fall!

The rain has stopped and the sun has come out, water levels are starting to look more like one expects this time of the year....to best demonstrate look at these...

This was taken about 3 pm on October 3rd, at our boat launch.....

and this was taken exactly 24 hours later - look at the difference in the water level!  So now the gravel bars are reappearing....

it is starting to look a lot like fall out there!  I think there are at least 17 Bald Eagles out there....

and it isn't just eagles...lots of Canada Geese but also ducks...saw Mallards, American Wigeon,  Gadwall and Hooded Mergansers.

Of course Great Blue Heron as well.  There was a Kingfisher flying about too. We were also able to walk over to the park again so since it has been months since we've done that, I'll just familiarize you all again with some of the key points, or at least what I'm talking about when I call them.....

This area is the 'first bay', soon this bay will be a mix of gravel and pools of water and if all goes as it should there will be salmon spawning in here.

and this is what I call the 'log bay' - it too will play a very active roll in the next few months as the salmon start to arrive and the numbers of Bald Eagles increase and the over wintering swans start to arrive.
