Robins!

What a beautiful sunny weekend!  although it was still pretty darn chilly unless you could find a spot in the sunshine with absolutely no wind.....however, something must be happening because this weekend was the first where we have seen....

American Robins over at Harrison Bay.  Now I'm pretty sure I've mentioned how we had them at the estuary all fall and most of the winter, a few hung about even during the coldest days, but these are the first over there.  Only one yesterday, and about half a dozen today.

the snow is definitely disappearing as well (along with the water!).....not a lot of activity out there today apart from...

Common Merganser - lots of them, there must be schools of some sort of little fish out there because they were busy torpedoing up the river!

this male was perched on a log, showing it's rather spectacular colour pattern.

The Northwestern Crows are paired up but haven't noticed any nest building yet.

Back at the estuary....

this pair of Eurasian Collared Dove were having a drink from a melting snow pile on our road.

Steller's Jay were very active this morning, not sure why.  Could hear a Red-breasted Sapsucker in this area too but never did spot it.

Song Sparrows were singing up a storm this morning as well!
