Salmon!

Set out today, same time as yesterday.....

even more Canada Geese out there today....note the boat in the background....this one comes down the Harrison River from the lake for eagle viewing.

see those ripples in the far corner of the first bay?  There were a pair of Salmon spawning there - first ones of the season....

this dead one was floating off of the log bay an also saw a few live ones swimming in the area so that is good news, they are starting to arrive.

there were several American Goldfinch in that shrub....didn't manage a picture, but there was also a....

male Hairy Woodpecker....(males have red on the back of the head, females don't)

just for fun zoomed in for a close up.

There were a couple of robins and this....

young White-crowned Sparrow in the same area.

A sure sign of fall....

is the Woolly Bear Caterpillar...Folklore says you can tell how hard a winter it will be by the width of the orange strip....probably as accurate as any other means of predicting weather!
